Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner proved coordinating coparenting style is a thing.
Affleck, 53, and Garner, 54, both wore matching light blue sweaters and jeans while stepping out to grab a bite to eat in Los Angeles, as seen in photos published by Just Jared on Friday, May 22.
Garner and Affleck formed a friendship in 2000 while working on the film Pearl Harbor together. At the time, Garner was married to Scott Foley, whom she split from in 2003. That same year, Affleck and Garner reconnected while starring in Daredevil.
Garner and Affleck started dating in 2004 and tied the knot the following year. Six months after their nuptials, they welcomed daughter Violet. They expanded their family with Seraphina and Samuel in 2009 and 2012, respectively.
Affleck and Garner announced in 2015 that they were separating after a decade of marriage. The pair finalized their divorce three years later.
Despite their split, Affleck and Garner have remained friends since as they continue to coparent their three children. Affleck previously reflected on his and Garner’s decision to divorce.
“The biggest regret of my life is this divorce. Shame is really toxic. There is no positive by-product of shame,” the actor told The New York Times in 2020. “It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing. I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up, learn from it, learn some more, try to move forward.”
Garner, for her part, also opened up about how difficult it was to end her and Affleck’s marriage.
“You have to be smart about what you can and can’t handle, and I could not handle what was out there,” she said in a January interview with Marie Claire UK. “The fact of it is what was hard. The actual breaking up of a family is what was hard. Losing a true partnership and friendship is what was hard.”
The former couple have reunited on multiple occasions to celebrate their kids’ milestones. Most recently, the exes celebrated Samuel’s 14th birthday by participating in paintball.
Garner recently praised how she and Affleck have been able to put on a united front for their kids’ well-being.
“I think that I do a bit of both. And I think my kids’ dad does too. Especially when your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad and he becomes dad and mom,” she said during a February episode of Bustle’s “One Nightstand” YouTube series. “You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides of the yin and yang being in the same house.”
