Jeremy Meeks may have the face of a model—but for now, at least, he has the wardrobe of an inmate. Meeks, who became an internet sensation last month when his “hot” mugshot went viral online, appeared in court on Tuesday, July 8, not in designer duds but in a standard-issue orange prison uniform.
The 30-year-old Stockton man was in court to face charges relating to his June 18 arrest. Prosecutors allege that he was in possession of a firearm at the time he was taken into custody; due to his previous criminal record, he was indicted last week on federal charges, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Meeks was being held at a San Joaquin Valley jail, but has still managed to secure an agent to negotiate potential modeling contracts on his behalf. As reported by Page Six in early July, he hired porn star-turned-publicist Gina Rodriguez to represent him.
“Jeremy has an amazing look and has received international attention which I feel can only help him flourish in the entertainment industry,” Rodriguez told ABC News. “Jeremy could make somewhere between $3,000 to $100,000 per month through endorsements and modeling.”
She noted, too, that she was “speaking with several production companies” with regards to his future. “I believe this can be a positive change for Jeremy and his family,” she told ABC.
