Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's current castmates from Jersey Shore haven't spoken out about his recently revealed battle with prescription pills, which led him to voluntarily check into a treatment program.
But former housemate Angelina Pivarnick spoke to the New York Post's Page Six about the reality star's struggle.
Quipping that Sorrentino was like "Popeye on crack," she explained to the paper, "When he was on the show, he got in trouble for having prescription pills."
She elaborated: "We were filming in a club in Miami . . . one of the producers said, 'Hey what was that?' He had to give them up."
The Staten Island native, 24, appeared on-and-off during the first two seasons of MTV smash hit, but was subsequently replaced by Deena Nicole Cortese.
"I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion," Sorrentino told fans on his blog Wednesday. "I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."
