Ouch! Jesse Tyler Ferguson shared a photo on Instagram on Tuesday, Dec. 8, that showed him with a large bandage on the right side of his face.

"Thank you to Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face," the Modern Family star captioned the pic. He added a message to the hit show's makeup team, saying, "Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow," along with the hashtags #youwannapieceofme #phantommask #spf75.

Ferguson, 40, didn't elaborate on the seriousness of his condition, but being a fair-skinned redhead makes him 10 to 100 times more susceptible to melanoma than people with other hair colors, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Last year Ferguson took part in the star-studded Stand Up to Cancer TV special and revealed that his husband, Justin Mikita, had battled Hodgkin's lymphoma but has been cancer-free since 2000.

"I'm so grateful for the doctors who helped him get healthy," Ferguson said while promoting the special last year, according to Global News. The pair married in NYC in 2013 after dating for two years.
