Jessica Simpson Turns Down Huge Book Deal to Record New Album

Her boots really are made for walking.

Jessica Simpson has no plans to pen a lifestyle book — for now, at least, an insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. A literary agent recently approached the fashion mogul to write about her business success, but the singer ultimately declined.

"She was getting offers for between $1 million and $2 million — or more," the source tells Us. "Companies wanted her to write something as dishy as possible — about her romance with Eric [Johnson] and being a mother."

Simpson, 34, mulled over the idea, but eventually decided it wasn't the time to do so. The reason? She's focusing on new music!

A pal adds: "She's recording a new album instead."

Maxwell and Ace's mom dropped her sixth studio album, the country-inflected, poorly received Do You Know, in September 2008. Two years earlier — right after her divorce from Nick Lachey — she released pop record A Public Affair, which sold over one million copies.
