Jim Carrey is doing all he can to help his late girlfriend Cathriona White’s family following her suspected suicide. The Mask star met with Cathriona’s mother and her sister, Lisa, in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and has put them up in a hotel room while they are in town from Ireland, a source confirms to Us Weekly.
“They spent several hours at his home in Brentwood,” the insider tells Us, adding that Cathriona’s family plans to bring her body back home to her native Ireland when they leave L.A.
Cathriona, a makeup artist and talented photographer, was found dead of suspected suicide inside her Sherman Oaks, Calif., home on Monday, Sept. 28. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Us there were pills found next to her body and a note addressed to Carrey. An autopsy report has not yet been released, and toxicology tests can take up to 10 weeks to determine the official cause of death.
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” Carrey said in a statement to Us. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”

Carrey and Cathriona dated on and off beginning in 2012. The pair allegedly split on Sept. 24, the same day as her final tweet, which read: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest. [Love] to you all.”
“Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family,” her family said in a statement. “We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss. There will be no further statements on behalf of the family.”
