Jim Carrey‘s on-again, off-again girlfriend Cathriona White is dead at age 30, following a suspected suicide on Monday, Sept. 28. Carrey confirmed White’s death to Us Weekly in a statement on Tuesday.
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona,” the actor, 53, told Us. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office later confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that White was found dead inside her home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., on Monday night. According to ET, she was found unresponsive by a friend and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to TMZ, which broke the news on Tuesday, authorities were called to White’s L.A. area home on Monday night, where they found her body. She reportedly left behind a suicide note, which mentioned her off-again, on-again love. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that she supposedly wrote in her final letter that they split on Sept. 24.
Police confirmed to ET that a note was found at the home. White’s cause of death, however, is still being investigated.
That same day, Irish native Cathriona posted her final tweet. “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest,” she said.
Last week, she also posted numerous snaps of herself, including a black and white selfie, that was captioned: “#blackandwhite #selfie #throwback #desert #endless #search #instaphoto #lookdeeply #look #honestly #feeling #californiadreaming #love #yearning #faith #ilovetea.”
She also celebrated her birthday recently at West Coast sushi hot spot Nobu Malibu. “Before going for a wonderful belated birthday dinner at Nobu in Malibu last night #selfie #flowers #makeup #dressup #sometimes #nobu #food #yummy #ocean #sunset #california #beautifulevening #happybirthdaytome.”
TMZ reported that police believed that she passed away from a drug overdose. The site reported that two friends found her body when they went to her home to check in with her.
Carrey, 53, and White first met back in 2012. The two rekindled their romance back in May. “They’re having a great time now,” a source told Us at the time.
