Get your tissues ready! J.K. Rowling just revealed her favorite chapter from the Harry Potter books, and it’s bound to make you cry.
During one of her many chats with fans on Twitter, the author, 50, revealed that her favorite chapter is Chapter 34 of the final book in the seven-book series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The chapter, titled “The Forest Again,” is the part of the series where Harry enters the Forbidden Forest to confront Lord Voldemort, believing that he must end his own life in order to put a stop to his enemy.
“It was the culmination of 17 years’ work and the most cathartic piece of writing of my life,” Rowling said.
Also in this chapter, Harry sees his deceased mother and father, Lily and James Potter, after opening the Golden Snitch.
A fan tweeted at Rowling after her answer, writing that she “bawled” while reading the chapter. Rowling simply replied, “So did I.”
Rowling is currently writing the screenplay for the film adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a book about magical creatures set in the Potter world. It was originally one of the textbooks that Harry was required to read for class in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The film is set to be released next November.
