Joe Manganiello is weighing in after ex-wife Sofía Vergara appeared to subtly throw shade at him via social media.

“Her son posted a thing about, ‘This is what happens when you deal with a narcissistic man,’ and she has liked that post. They appear to be saying that, basically, it’s terrible what happened to you, but the bottom line is that you’re a narcissist. What do you say to that?” Gayle King asked Manganiello, 49, during the Monday, October 12, episode of CBS Mornings.

Referencing his upcoming memoir, Bloodlines, Manganiello replied, “Well, I think anybody who said that should read the book first and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that. It’s about the suffering that I went through. … I try to paint everyone with an amount of grace, no matter who they are. Because it is a nuanced discussion, and it’s not something that I care to carry out on social media. I’m here to talk to you, and I hope that people pick up the book because what it’s about, is it’s about survival and it’s also about hope.”

Before Manganiello’s TV appearance, Vergara, 54, reposted a chart to her Instagram Story that compared the behavior of a “good man” versus a “narcissistic man.” The post was originally shared by her son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, who did not include a reason for the upload at the time. “Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will ever be enough, and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy,” read a message on the Thursday, October 8, post.

Manganiello and Vergara married in 2015, around the same time that he began suffering from a mysterious health battle. The True Blood alum underwent multiple colonoscopies and had emergency surgery to remove part of his intestines but never received a formal diagnosis for his symptoms.

In Bloodlines, Manganiello alleged that their marriage had “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.” Vergara and the Magic Mike actor ultimately split, settling their divorce in 2024. The America’s Got Talent judge has not directly addressed her ex’s book allegations. Us previously reached out for comment.

Vergara has also been open about the reason behind her and Manganiello’s split. In 2024, she claimed that the pair had called it quits because they disagreed about having children.

“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger,” she told El País at the time. “He wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore. I had a son at 19 … and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”

Manganiello, however, refuted Vergara’s claims. In an interview with People on Wednesday, October 7, Manganiello shared that “there were things said and printed about me that were false” and noted that he is still open to having children.

“If that’s meant for me,” he added. “For seven years, I thought I was going to be dead the next week. The world has opened back up to me.”

Manganiello has since moved on with Caitlin O’Connor, to whom he proposed in 2025. He is now symptom-free and no longer taking medications for his health battle.

Bloodlines will be available Tuesday, October 13.
