Awkward! John Mayer enjoyed a Wednesday night date with a petite blonde at West Hollywood hot spot E.P. & L.P. on Sept. 16, and according to an eyewitness, a fellow diner was clad in a Katy Perry concert T-shirt.
The “Your Body Is a Wonderland” singer, who was enjoying his new fling’s company on the rooftop, didn’t seem to notice his ex-girlfriend’s fan though.
“They were definitely on a date,” an observer tells Us of Mayer and the girl. “They were sitting really close to each other intensely talking and, at one point, they were holding hands.”
The pair, who sat in a reserved private area of the rooftop lounge, were sipping on water and whiskey. At one point during their drinks, the duo cheered each other before taking a sip, the eyewitness adds.
Mayer and Perry had been hot and cold until most recently splitting in July.
“It’s always on and off. She’s young and doesn’t want to be too tied down again,” a source close to Perry told Us at the time. “It’s more of a relationship of convenience and it isn’t always so black and white.”
Perry, who split from ex-husband Russell Brand in 2012, has recently reunited with another fling of hers — Diplo. The two attended Burning Man together last month after celebrating her 30th birthday in Morocco together. “They’ve started seeing each other again. We’ll see what happens,” a source tells Us of the DJ and “Roar” singer.
