Sorry y’all, but John Travolta isn’t as creepy as you think. The Grease alum’s handsy and slightly odd treatment of Idina Menzel’s chin at the 2015 Oscars was all planned, his rep tells Us Weekly.
During Sunday’s ceremony, While presenting Common and John Legend with the Best Original Song Oscar for Selma’s “Glory,” the duo made light of Travolta mangling the Broadway star’s name at last year’s awards.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage my very dear friend, Glom Gazingo," the Frozen actress joked while Travolta made his way on stage. "I deserve that," the Hairspray star said, before grabbing Menzel's face by the chin and properly pronouncing her name.
The touchy-feely moment (which followed similarly odd red carpet shots with Scarlett Johansson) had some viewers weirded out but Travolta’s rep tells Us it was all in good fun.
"It was rehearsed in total,” his rep clarifies. “John Travolta loved working with Idina Menzel. John had a great time at the Oscars because his wife, Kelly Preston, and his daughter, Ella, were in attendance with him."
