Jon Voight Slams Robert De Niro’s ‘Ugly Rant,’ Defends Donald Trump: ‘Trump’s Words Did Not Hurt Anyone’

Taking sides. Jon Voight slammed Robert De Niro’s “ugly rant” in a Twitter tirade of his own on Saturday, October 8, defending Donald Trump’s misogynistic words from a 2005 video that surfaced on Friday.

“I am so ashamed of my fellow actor Bobby DeNiro’s rant against Donald Trump,” the 77-year-old actor tweeted. “What foul words he used against a presidential nominee who has worked harder than any other man I know in the past year and a half to get a good message to the American people.”

“I don’t know of too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years,” he continued. “Donald Trump’s words were not as damaging as Robert DeNiro’s ugly rant. Trump’s words did not hurt anyone. Can you imagine if any Republican said words like Robert DeNiro used — against Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama? All hell would break loose.”

Voight then called on Trump supporters to “express their outrage and anger against DeNiro and all of the Republican turncoats against Trump.”

“Let Donald Trump know we are completely behind him, and may God give him the strength to continue his calling,” Voight finished his call for action.

On Friday, October 7, footage was released of Trump, 70, caught bragging to Access Hollywood host Billy Bush in 2005 about kissing and groping women, on a hot mic while aboard an Access Hollywood bus.

“You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them,” he can be heard saying on the tape. “It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”

“I mean, he’s so blatantly stupid,” the Academy Award–winner said of Trump in the clip, which was a part of the Get Out the Vote campaign. “He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a pig. He’s a con, a bulls–t artist, a mutt. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about, doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care, thinks he’s gaming society, doesn’t pay his taxes. He’s an idiot. Colin Powell said it best: He’s a national disaster. He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has.”

Voight is the father of much more left-leaning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, who is well-known for her involvement in organizations and movements championing women’s and children’s rights as well as her recent work with the Syrian refugees.
