Cue Taylor Swift’s surprised face! The “Blank Space” singer, who dominated headlines and stages across the country this year, is not 2015’s highest earning woman in music — her rival, Katy Perry, is.
According to Forbes, which compiles the annual roundup, the “Roar” singer, 31, earned a whopping $135 million this year, while Swift, 25, was the second highest earner, taking home $80 million. (Still nothing to scoff at!)
Perry’s success is due in large part to her Prismatic World Tour, Forbes reports. The “Birthday” singer earned more than $2 million per city over the course of 126 shows.
The “Dark Horse” songstress was also a spokesperson for Covergirl, Claire’s, and Coty, which added substantially to her earnings.
Swift, meanwhile, has been busy with her 1989 World Tour, grossing $4 million per city. So though she didn’t top the earnings chart this year, she has a great shot at next year’s honors, according to the magazine.
Fleetwood Mac — which features Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie — came in third with $59.5 million, while previous top-earners Lady Gaga and Beyonce earned $59 million and $54.5 million, respectively.
Mrs. Carter was worth an estimated $115 million as the leader of the pack last year.
