KoKo and her Lam-Lam. Khloe Kardashian barely left Lamar Odom's side as he remained unconscious for three days in a Las Vegas hospital this week, her mom, Kris Jenner, told close pal Billy Bush on Friday, Oct. 16. A source reveals more exclusive details to Us Weekly about how Khloe has been coping by her estranged husband's bedside in Sunrise Hospital.
"Khloe has been making the decisions and it has been very hard on her," the insider tells Us of the reality star, 31. As was revealed this week, Kardashian and Odom are still legally married while their signed divorce documents have yet to be finalized by a judge. The revelation made Kardashian technically responsible for all medical decisions pertaining to her ex, 35, as he remained in a coma.
The source tells Us that Kardashian has been "like a shell of a person."
"Making these decisions is very hard. Kris came and was very helpful and supportive," the insider says of the mom of six. (Accompanying Jenner were other family members including Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kim Kardashian.) "Most people have been waiting in a waiting room outside the room and will go in one at a time. Khloe has really been the only one in the room 24/7, sleeping by his bedside and keeping vigil."
Kardashian spoke out only once via her reps in the 72 hours that Odom was unconscious, asking Love Ranch South brothel owner, Dennis Hof, to show some respect during the difficult time.
"We reached out to Dennis," her reps told Us Weekly on Friday morning. "Politely asking him to respect Lamar’s (and Khloe’s) privacy during this difficult time, and refrain from talking to the press. This is a very painful situation, as I know you are aware, and the idea that anyone would use it to seek publicity is really sad."
Shortly after Us and other outlets confirmed later that Friday that Odom had regained consciousness, her mom Jenner, 59, told Access Hollywood host Bush some details about her daughter. According to the momager (via Bush), Odom spoke to Kardashian. She also said Kardashian only left her estranged husband's side one time in Sunrise Hospital.
Jenner later posted an update via social media. "Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them," she wrote, alongside the caption: "#pleasepray #ourfighter."
“Lamar is doing well and opened his eyes this morning,” the insider told Us of Odom on Friday. “He grabbed the doctor’s hand and his first word was ‘Hello.’”
The former NBA player was found unconscious at Love Ranch South, a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nev., this past Tuesday. He is now breathing on his own, but still remains in critical condition. “He was not brain dead,” the insider added to Us. “The truth is, doctors are still figuring out a lot right now.”
