You gotta put in the work, girl! Khloé Kardashian flaunts her curves on the new cover of Health magazine, but explains in the accompanying interview that it has taken a lot of dedication to get to where she is now.
The 32-year-old Strong Looks Better Naked author explained that after a year and a half of working with her trainer and family friend, Gunnar Peterson, she was advised to see a nutritionist as well. “I did baby steps,” she told the magazine. “I cut out sodas, then I went dairy-free for two weeks, and I lost 11 pounds. Now I only drink almond milk. I love cheese, which is hard, but if I want to lose weight quickly, dairy-free is the way to go. It’s not even a diet anymore. I don’t process carbs well after 3 p.m. Kim can eat anything, and I’m like, ‘I hate you.’ The nutritionist was like, ‘Kim has a body like a Ferrari, and you have a body like a Honda.’ I was like, ‘Yep, that sounds about right. That’s my life — you just summed it up right there.’”
Khloé added that even after shedding some weight, she still got rude comments from haters looking to stir the pot. “Some people were like, ‘It took you so long to lose weight.’ And I’m like, ‘I’ve been fat or out of shape my whole life. It’s gonna take time to reprogram my body,’” she said. “But some people were like, ‘I liked you better when you were fat.’ I get body-shamed now that I work out!”
Not that the Good American jean designer lets the criticism get to her head. Instead, she told Health, the best thing is to let the naysayers motivate your will to do something constructive. After her split from husband Lamar Odom, for instance, she took that frustration and channeled it into working out.
“I was going through my divorce, and I just really needed an outlet,” she told the magazine. “I had turned to food and had an unhealthy relationship with food my whole life, and I was like, ‘Food has never helped me lose weight.’ So I joined Equinox, and I would go there and put my headphones on and get on the elliptical or the stairs, and no one would bother me or ask me questions … I escaped there, and as a by-product, I started losing weight.”
These days, the Revenge Body With Khloé Kardashian host is dating NBA player Tristan Thompson, whom she calls a “little cutie.”
“I do feel like I would date the Beast,” she said in response to the interviewer’s quip that Kendall Jenner had likened her to Belle from Beauty and the Beast. “That Beast is, like, big and oversized. I didn’t like when he turned into the prince. He was cooler as the Beast. My boyfriend’s a cutie, so I do like big men.”
