Last week I got heart surgery and everything went very smoothly. While I’m still recovering, I’m looking forward to being 100 percent again. A big part of that is maintaining a healthy diet. This month has been such a whirlwind but also such a blessing, and it has taught me that health is No. 1. I’m sticking to a healthy diet with the help of my incredibly supportive family and wanted to share a typical day with you guys.

8 a.m. I woke up and made myself a strawberry-banana protein smoothie with berries, bananas, peanut butter, and 310 shake vanilla protein powder. I love having protein smoothies for breakfast because it gives my body the right nutrients to help me recover faster while also burning fat.

12:30 p.m. For lunch I like to have veggies with protein so that I can stay full until it’s time for a midday snack. I was craving tacos after seeing my daughters eating them for lunch, so I went with a healthier version and had grilled chicken fajita lettuce wraps with peppers and onions. For the lettuce wraps I added some sliced avocados and mild salsa. It’s sooo good and filling!

4:00 p.m. I’m all about veggies with hummus when I start getting hungry before it’s dinner time! It holds me over and I’m always craving something with a bit of a crunch around this time. Eating veggies helps keep me fuller longer and makes your body burn more just to digest them. You can also dip your veggies in salsa if you want something a little lighter!

7:30 p.m. For dinner I had a lean turkey burger with a wheat bun, pickles, and lettuce. They are super easy to make and the kids love it! I love throwing together some sides too, like roasted sweet potatoes, garlic cauliflower, and a Caesar salad.
