Kim Zolciak Hospitalized for Mini Stroke After DWTS Performance: “My Body Went Completely Numb and My Speech Was Gone”

Though Kim Zolciak was praised for her improvement on Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Atlanta resident, 37, had a scary setback less than 24 hours later. The Don’t Be Tardy star took to Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 24, to update fans on her recent hospitalization and current condition.

“The last 24hrs have been whirlwind! I landed yesterday morning from LAX (took the red eye right after DWTS) I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke) the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone,” she captioned the Instagram selfie from her hospital bed. (TIA stands for Transient Ischemic Attack).

Fortunately, the mother of six is getting back to her normal, wig-wearing self, thanks to her family, friends, and doctors.

“Extremely grateful for @sladeosborne @briellebiermann @nikitpressley @kroybiermann for quick reactions!” she wrote. “I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD. Still in the hospital but I just know I’m getting released today! #CrazyAgeDoesntMatter.”

After a shaky start on this season of DWTS, Zolciak and her partner Tony Dovolani have been hard at work to improve their performances. Their recent foxtrot earned them a score of 18 out of 30 on Tuesday. 

“We all like the new Kim,” judge Bruno Tonioli exclaimed during the episode.
