Kristen Bell is juggling a newborn daughter, a 21-month-old daughter, and shooting an upcoming movie with Melissa McCarthy, but you better believe she’s still romancing her husband Dax Shepard! The Veronica Mars alum makes a point to schedule date nights with her husband of two years, she told Us Weekly on Friday, Feb. 27 at the 3rd Annual Noble Awards in Beverly Hills.
“We have a family calendar and it’s how everybody runs,” the working mom told Us of how she manages to make time for her marriage. “In truth, there’s no trick to balancing it. If you look at the calendar and you’ve seen you’ve gone ten days without a date night, you know you need to prioritize more. That’s how we work — we’re very mathematical about our relationship!”
“I feel like it’s necessary to stay connected, because you can easily get blinded by all of the multitasking you have to do and then forget that it’s been a month since you’ve spent an evening with your partner, and I don’t ever want to let it get to that,” she added.
The happily married star admits that, with a household full of estrogen, Shepard does have an escape plan.
“He has a game plan,” Bell said, laughing. “He and Ryan Hansen — who is one of our best friends and has three girls — they’ve decided that once our schedules sync up…they’re going to get a bachelor pad downtown and just leave for five to seven days. That’s their game plan.”
Whether they’re kidding or not, Bell doesn’t seem to mind.
“I mean, to be honest, I don’t hate the idea of them being out of our hair for five to seven days,” she laughed. “I think it’s going to work for everybody.”
