They can't wait to be grandparents together! Leah Jenner's father, former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, opened up to Us Weekly exclusively on Monday, June 15, about Caitlyn Jenner's dynamic with the family, especially as Leah and Brandon Jenner expect their first child together.
"You know, I’ve known Bruce for decades," Felder told Us at Phoenix House’s 12th Annual Triumph for Teens Awards Gala in Beverly Hills. "I’ve loved him as a guy, as an athlete, to play golf with, he’s just a really great man. Or woman."
"I don’t care what his appearance looks like — I know what’s inside," the rocker, 67, continued. "And however he wants to present himself, I’m more than happy to support him, as well as the whole family is as well."
He noted that he was looking forward for his ninth grandchild to know Caitlyn as herself. "I don’t have any problems with my grandchild growing up knowing him as Caitlyn — her as Caitlyn," Felder corrected himself. "So for me it’s going to be difficult to stop saying him, and say her, but I'm certain I’ll be able to handle it."
Felder told Us that he and Caitlyn were bonding over their future grandchild. "We’re really excited about Leah having her baby, and Brandon," he gushed of the musical husband-wife duo. "And they are so much in love and so happy, you can see it in their pictures and photos! I’m certain whatever happens as far as grandkids is all going to be wonderful, so I’m supportive of it all."
(Indeed, 32-year-old Leah has happily posted funny snaps from her pregnancy, including a recent funny Instagram update of her husband, 34, sticking his stomach out to mimic her.)
Like Felder, most Kardashian-Jenner family members have been publicly supportive of Caitlyn's transition from male to female. The former Olympian, who made her big debut as a transgender woman this past month on the July 2015 issue of Vanity Fair, told the mag that she was "finally free" after its release.
She is currently filming her upcoming docuseries, Call Me Cait, which will chronicle her journey.
