Billy Mack, the son of country star Bill Mack, recently accused LeAnn Rimes of “diva” behavior and having a “Kardashian attitude” during a performance in Texas — but the “How Do I Live” singer’s rep has exclusively set the record straight with Us Weekly.
Mack, 83, who wrote Rimes’ 1996 breakout megahit “Blue,” and his son, radio host Billy, attended Rimes’ concert at Billy Bob's Texas restaurant in Fort Worth on Friday, April 8. Mack’s son slammed Rimes in a now-deleted Facebook rant, which Rimes' rep says was posted before the show even started.
“Almost comical … My dad and I go to Billy Bob’s Texas (Which is a whole other story) to see LeAnn Rimes and wish her the best (which by the way the lowest attendance I’ve seen there in a long time),” he wrote. “No wonder why she is a has been in the industry.
"Her lack of humility, to her fans, my dad, Curb Records, or anyone else who has ever been in her corner in the early part of her career is hard, but a lil cute to watch," the 92.1 FM DJ continued. "Sometimes it's best to stay in LA. Don't crawl back to Texas with a Kardashian attitude, expecting a Texas size applause. I wish her the best, but you can’t fool the fans. I speak only for me, and nobody else on this matter.”
While the Macks seem to imply that Rimes, 33, purposely ignored them, she offered to meet with them both before and after the concert ended — an offer the Macks turned down “for personal reasons,” according to Rimes’ rep.
"In hindsight, Bill Mack and his son's desire to see LeAnn on their time frame with no regard for the time frames that are part of every artist's protocol before shows was the only 'diva' attitude going on," Rimes' rep tells Us.
“LeAnn and her family love Bill Mack,” Rimes’ rep insists. “She has no idea why he would harbor such intense ill feelings about her and why he could talk as if he knew anything about her personal life.”
Adds the spokesperson: “LeAnn honored and thanked Bill Mack on the stage that night during her show before singing Bill Mack’s song ‘Blue.’ She did this all three nights of her shows in Texas.”
