Lori Loughlin is taking steps to legally end her marriage to Mossimo Giannulli nearly one year after they split.
According to court documents obtained by Us, Loughlin, 62, filed for divorce from Giannulli, 63, on Friday, September 4. The actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and listed the pair’s date of separation as August 31, 2025. Loughlin stated that she and Giannulli signed a prenup.

Us confirmed Loughlin and Giannulli’s separation in October 2025 after nearly 28 years of marriage.
“They are living apart now,” Loughlin’s rep told Us in a statement, noting that there were “no legal proceedings underway” at the time.
The split didn’t come as a surprise to Loughlin and Giannulli’s inner circle. Nevertheless, she struggled in the wake of the separation.
“People around Lori and Mossimo have known they have been going through a really hard time in the last year,” a source told Us in October 2025. “This isn’t a shock to people around them. It has been a rough time for Lori. She is devastated.”
According to the insider, Loughlin “thought a break could help” her fractured relationship with Giannulli, but the pair were “not on the same page.”
“They will not reconcile — there is currently no chance — and will ultimately divorce,” the source insisted, adding that while Giannulli had “been on dates” since the split, Loughlin had not.
Meanwhile, the former couple’s daughters, Bella and Olivia Jade, were “definitely upset” by their parents’ separation, though an insider told Us in October 2025 that they weren’t “surprised.”
“They had seen the way their parents were interacting in the last year and knew this was coming,” the source shared. “It was not a shock to anyone in the family.”
Before their split made headlines, Loughlin and Giannulli were “arguing often and their lifestyles weren’t meshing anymore,” according to the insider.
Amid the turmoil in their relationship, the two “grew apart and Mossimo moved on quickly,” the source said, adding that they hadn’t “really operated as a unit for quite some time.”
As for how their daughters felt about the separation, the insider said it felt “more like an adjustment than a disruption” to Bella, 27, and Olivia Jade, 26, noting, “Everyone’s still adjusting, but it’s been a calm transition overall.”
In their mother’s time of need, Bella and Olivia Jade “have been supporting” Loughlin, whom they’re “very close with.”
“The girls all have similar interests so they love hanging out and spending time together when they can,” the source revealed, noting that Olivia Jade had “separated herself a bit” from the ordeal since she was bicoastal at the time.
In October 2025, Us exclusively reported that both Loughlin and Giannulli retained legal counsel and were “moving toward divorce proceedings” after “living separately for several months,” per an insider.
Prior to their separation, Loughlin and Giannulli — who tied the knot in November 1997 — famously weathered a college admissions scandal in 2019. Both were arrested on federal fraud charges for paying $500,000 in bribes to get Bella and Olivia Jade into the University of Southern California. Loughlin and Giannulli initially pleaded not guilty before confessing in 2020. They both spent time behind bars, serving two months and five months in prison, respectively.
Earlier this year, a source told Us that the fallout from college admissions scandal had an impact on Loughlin and Giannulli’s relationship.
“The school scandal was a turning point, and they never really connected or recovered their relationship after that,” the insider explained. “She felt that he got her involved. She didn’t fully blame him, but he spearheaded it. She never fully forgave him and never fully got over it, and they were never the same after.”
