Love on the Spectrum star Adan Correa unexpectedly found love with fellow Netflix star Melissa Ramirez.
“It’s been great getting to know each other,” Adan, 30, gushed on the Wednesday, July 15, episode of the “Off the Record” podcast. “It definitely helps that we live close by … [and] we have become a couple.”
Adan and ex Dani Bowman broke up during season 3 over conflicting views on pre-marital sex and intimacy. Melissa, for her part, had gone on multiple dates with Dylan Aguilar during season 4.
While Adan and Melissa didn’t cross paths on the show, they became friends when the cameras stopped rolling.
“It was really nice actually. We really, really didn’t think [dating] was gonna happen,” Melissa stated. “We were friends, we had a good friendship and we hanged [sic] out, and I wanted to meet him.”
Adan and Melissa first met in person at an Encino, California, premiere of a fan-made Star Wars project.
“At the time I was polite, I was friendly. I had not seen [her] season yet,” Adan recalled. “After seeing the premiere and getting to know her, finding out she was on the fourth season, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s the newest cast member.’ After that, we began hanging out, going to Universal Studios and being there to support her when she sang … [as an alumni at her] high school’s graduation.”
Eventually, Adan and Melissa’s friendship turned romantic.
“We didn’t see it coming,” he admitted. “We got to know each other and then mutual friends … told us, ‘You have so much in common. I can definitely see it.’ We took it slow, got to know each other more. Many people around [us] saw the signs, but we didn’t see it at first. It’s beautiful how it turned out.”
For Melissa, she is equally “excited” about her blossoming romance away from the cameras.
“It feels natural, it feels more calm,” Adam added of finding love outside of the Netflix series. “Don’t get me wrong, I had a beautiful experience on the series. Though that first experience didn’t work out, I’m glad I found love getting to know Melissa ‘cause … [I knew] what I was looking for in a relationship, what boundaries I was willing to set, so that was a good experience and it helped me prepare for this one.”
Melissa further acknowledged that she and Adan share many of the same values and interests.
“We’re in the same boat,” she said. “We like the same things, we have things in common. We just go-with-the-flow, step-by-step and we’re not in no rush for anything.”
Dani, 30, for her part, is now dating Henry Andrade.
