“Lady in Red” was written for this moment! Making her off-Broadway debut, Lupita Nyong’o celebrated the opening night of her new play, Eclipsed, at the Public Theater in NYC on Wednesday, Oct. 14, where she dazzled in a head-toe-toe crimson ensemble.
The Oscar-winning red carpet darling, 32, modeled a sequined, red Dior dress, which she paired with matching pointed-toe pumps by Aquazzura and a Judith Leiber clutch. Adding even more sparkle, Nyong’o accessorized with diamond rings and 7.76-carat diamond earrings set in platinum, all courtesy of Chopard.
The 12 Years a Slave actress, who can next be seen in the much-anticipated Star Wars sequel, worked her natural curls, pushed back and held in place with the help of a double-strand headband braid, for the occasion.
To finish it all off, the Nyong’o rocked blushed cheeks and Lancome L’Absolu Velours — a stunning matte gloss — in 493 Velours De Violine ($30, Lancome-usa.com).
Nyong’o makes her NYC stage debut with Danai Gurira‘s Eclipsed, playing the youngest captive wife of a rebel soldier during the Liberian Civil War. Clearly moved by the warm welcome she received on opening night, the Lancome ambassador wrote via Instagram, “So happy to have the Opening of #EclipsedPlay happen @publictheaterny. The intimacy with the audience in the LuEsther theater is precious for us as actors. Thank you for all the support!”
