An unforgettable day. Mark Steines and Julie Freyermuth tied the knot in a romantic wedding ceremony at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 20, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm.
The happy couple’s nuptials were a surprise to their guests, who thought they were attending a fifth anniversary party for Steines’ Hallmark Channel show, Home & Family. They said “I do” in front of more than 100 of their closest friends and family members, including celebrities such as Leeza Gibbons, Nicky Whelan, Kerry Rhodes and Dot-Marie Jones, who officiated the wedding.
“It was a day filled with love and laughter as our friends and family watched as our hearts danced under the stars,” Steines, a 52-year-old divorced father of two sons, tells Us Weekly exclusively of his wedding to the children’s book author, 36. “Julie has illuminated [my family’s] world. The darkness that once existed has been lifted and I am exuberant for the bright future that awaits our family.”
The stunning bride looked incredible in an ivory BHLDN by Anthropologie gown, which featured a sweetheart neckline and a fluted skirt.
Steines and Freyermuth, who first met in August 2015 when she was a guest on his show, exchanged Neil Lane French antique wedding bands, handcrafted circa 1910. As the gorgeous author walked down the aisle, one of the couple’s favorite songs, “100 Years” by Five for Fighting, played.
At the wedding reception, guests dined on appetizers, dinner and dessert prepared by Two Peas Inc.’s chef Paola Petrella. They enjoyed fried chicken thighs, shrimp diablo and Kobe sliders from the grill, and later snacked on powdered dulce de leche alfajores and chocolate-covered and Nutella mousse–filled strawberries.
