Miley Cyrus Joins Celebs Defending Corey Feldman’s ’Today’ Performance

She’s got your back! Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity to defend Corey Feldman’s Today show performance with a post to social media on Thursday, September 22.

“Corey – I hope you see this … Haters gonna Hate! Lovers always gonna Love!” Cyrus, 23, captioned an Instagram post. “Thank you and your angels for sharing your music with us! Please enjoy life and continue to make art! You’re absolutely right to ignore (even though it can be hard) the hurtful comments made by uninspired people!!!! F–k judgment! You have more courage than any of those hating mother f–kas!!!! Good luck to you and always dream big! I know that’s what always keeps me smiling.”

“We put ourselves out there and we did the best that we could,” the “Wrecking Ball” singer, a fellow former child star, quoted Feldman’s emotional Facebook post following his much talked-about Today show performance.

On Friday, September 16, Feldman, 45, delivered a theatrical performance of his new single, “Go 4 It,” while on the morning show, sparking memes and commentary from fans and critics alike.

The Gremlins actor didn’t take the backlash easily, and later told Us that the negative comments were so extreme that in another life, he would’ve been totally crushed.

“I don’t care if you’re hiding behind a computer or a keyboard — it’s not an excuse. It’s not acceptable,” he said. “The somebody that you’re talking about is a real person with real feelings and real emotions. And I’ll tell you what, if I hadn’t been through this one thousand times, I might’ve taken my life over it. And then how would everybody feel?”

“That’s all I could think about when I went back on that plane,” he continued. “What if the plan crashed? I was thinking, ‘What would happen if I died in a plane crash right now? How would everybody feel?’ That the last thing that I saw before I got on that plane was them calling me a piece of crap.”

Many of Feldman’s peers have reached out to him to congratulate him on his performance and encourage him to ignore haters. In addition to Cyrus, Pink and Kesha also showed their support on social media.

The former Goonies star even got a shout-out from his Stand By Me costar Jerry O’Connell. “Proud of you @Corey_Feldman,” O’Connell tweeted on Friday, September 16.
