Jerry O’Connell is an American actor and television host best known for his roles in Stand by Me, Sliders and The Talk. O’Connell began acting as a child while growing up in Manhattan alongside his younger brother, Charlie O’Connell. He attended New York University, where he studied film and screenwriting while competing on the school’s fencing team, graduating in 1995.

O’Connell made his film debut at age 11 as Vern Tessio in Stand by Me (1986), which launched his acting career. He went on to star in the TV series My Secret Identity before breaking out as Quinn Mallory on Sliders, a role that made him a television star in the 1990s. He later expanded into film with roles in Jerry Maguire (1996), Joe’s Apartment (1996), Scream 2 (1997), Kangaroo Jack (2003) and Summer’s Last Resort (2026). In addition to acting, O’Connell has worked as a television host, joining The Talk as a permanent cohost in 2021.

In addition to his signature roles in television and film, O’Connell won the 1987 Jackie Coogan Award for his performance in Stand by Me and has earned multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations as part of The Talk.

O’Connell married Rebecca Romijn in 2007 after several years of dating. The couple share twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie (born in 2008).
