O’Connell, born in New York City, is the brother of actor Jerry O’Connell. Charlie is an actor who has starred in TV shows and films including Dude, Where’s My Car?, Sliders and Crossing Jordan. He is best known for his time as the Bachelor during season 7 of the ABC show.

At the end of his season in 2005, he chose Sarah Brice. The pair dated until splitting in 2007. They reconciled in 2008 but called it quits again in 2010. In 2018, he married model Anna Sophia Berglund.
