The Bachelor premiered on ABC in March 2002 with Alex Michel dubbed the world’s most eligible Bachelor. More than 20 women competed for his heart and one of the most successful reality TV franchises was born. The following year, The Bachelorette debuted. Since the show’s initial premiere in 2002, 35 men and women have been named the Bachelor or Bachelorette. (Brad Womack remains the only star to lead the series more than once!)
As of January 2019, approximately 34 percent of the former stars are currently married to someone who they did not meet on the show, 29 percent are still single, 17 percent are married to their significant other from the series, 8.5 percent are engaged to the winner from their season, 8.5 percent are in a relationship with someone not from the franchise and 3 percent have gotten divorced from someone outside the franchise.
