Wisconsin-raised software salesman and model Nick Viall gained initial reality television fame in 2014 as the runner-up on Andi Dorfman’s season 10 of The Bachelorette. After losing Dorfman to fellow contestant Josh Murray, Viall decided to try the show again.
He appeared on the next season with Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe, joining the competition late and putting a twist in the show, which deeply angered most of the other men he was competing against. However, the final rose ceremony ended with him as runner-up once again, losing to contestant Shawn Booth.
Viall continued with the Bachelor Nation franchise for a third try on season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise, which aired in summer 2016. In Paradise, Viall quickly hit it off with contestant Amanda Stanton before she chose Murray over him (Murray had joined the competition after splitting with Dorfman).
In 2016, Nick Viall was announced as the season 21 Bachelor, with the show airing in spring 2017.
