Lambert may have given unwitting fans a hint at the news that was to come when she performed in Wyoming over the weekend, breaking down during a performance at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Festival midway through her song "The House That Built Me."

The moment, caught on video by a couple of fans in the audience, shows Lambert's raw emotion, as she stops singing entirely and wipes tears from her eyes. Fans took over from their idol, singing the lyrics until she was able to regain her composure and carry on.

"No one wants to cry in front of 19,000 people," Lambert said to the crowd as she took a break from the emotional ballad. "I think you know this song so will y'all sing it for me?"

The song was particularly poignant for Lambert. It was originally written for Shelton to record but he gave it to his then-fiancee when she broke down as he played her the lyrics while they were out for a drive one night.

Lambert, 31, and Shelton, 39, finalized their divorce in the afternoon of Monday, July 20, just hours after announcing their split.

"This is not the future we envisioned," the stars reflected in a statement to Us Weekly earlier on Monday. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
