Singer Morrissey reveals he had to have cancerous tissue removed

Singer Morrissey has finally opened up about his recent health issues. The singer and Smiths frontman revealed in an interview with El Mundo that he had to have cancerous tissue removed from his body four times.

"I have had four cancer-scrapings, but so what. If I die, I die," he said (via a translation from BBC News). "If I don't, then I don't. As I sit here today I feel very well. I know I look quite bad on recent photographs, but I am afraid this is what illness does to the overall countenance," Morrissey added. "I will save relaxation for when I'm dead."

In addition to revealing his cancer scare, the 55-year-old said he has been diagnosed over the past two years with a bleeding ulcer, double pneumonia, food poisoning and a respiratory infection. The singer's announcement comes after he had to cancel part of his U.S. tour after being hospitalized in June.
