One day at a time, 1D. A video published Tuesday, May 27, by the Daily Mail shows two members of smash boy band One Direction smoking pot on the way to their performance in Lima, Peru, last month. The five-minute clip spotlights Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, passing a joint in the back of a car while en route to their concert at the Estadio Nacional.
Tomlinson, 22, narrates their pot-smoking adventure as they head to the stadium. "So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!" he says, while turning to Malik and asking him what he thinks.
"Very controversial," Malik, 21, says in response.
"One very, very important factor of Zayn's warm up, of course, is Mary J., herself," Tomlinson adds in the footage, while passing what appears to be a joint to his pal. "How is it, Zayn?"
"Nice," Zayn simply responds.
The clip also features the two unfazed by police personnel riding alongside their SUV. "That's the po po," Tomlinson says pointing to an officer on a bike. "He's thinking, I'm sure I can smell an illegal substance in there, and he's hit the nail on the head."
Towards the end of the clip, he ironically ponders: "I'm just wondering now. I'm sitting here in Peru wondering will this come back to me? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not."
The three other members of the global singing group, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne, are not featured in the video. One Direction's rep, when reached for comment, told Us Weekly, "This matter is in the hands of our lawyers."
