Paul Wesley spilled all the details on his first kiss with Brittany Snow.
“I was on a soap opera with Brittany Snow. She’s one of my dear friends. I adore her. She’s the best,” Wesley, 43, said while appearing on the Wednesday, July 22, episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “So, Brittany and I played boyfriend and girlfriend on a show called The Guiding Light. I was like, 16 years old, making a bunch of cash.”
Wesley and Snow, 40, appeared on the hit daytime talk show The Guiding Light in 1998 through 2001 as Max Nickerson and Susan “Daisy” Lemay, respectively. Not only was Wesley Snow’s first onscreen kiss — he was her first kiss, period.
“We were on set and I’m like, 16 [or] 17, so I had kissed — I had a girlfriend — I had kissed girls before,” Wesley continued on Wednesday. “Brittany and I had our first kiss scene. And I was like, ‘Cool. No big deal, whatever,’ because we were playing boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Wesley said Snow, who is three years younger than him, was “amazing,” adding that she played it cool about their onscreen smooch.
“We did the kiss scene and I’m like, ‘OK, that was fine. That went well,’” Wesley recalled. “I remember afterwards her mom comes up to me and she goes, ‘Just so you know, that was her first kiss ever.’ And I was like, ‘What?! I didn’t know that!’ And to this day, Brittany’s first kiss is the kiss on camera with me.”
The Vampire Diaries alum continued while smiling, “It was really sweet! Now we’re really good friends.”
Cooper, 31, then chimed in and pointed out that it was “probably good” that Wesley didn’t know the scene would serve as his costar’s first kiss before the cameras started rolling.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Wesley opened up about starring on The Guiding Light in his late teens, praising it for being “the best time” of his life.
“It was like, fake IDs and just partying and you know, doing this soap opera,” he explained. “The soap opera taught me how to work with the camera and be more relaxed. It was an amazing training ground and so many great actors came from that.”
Snow has also opened up about her first kiss with Wesley, telling HuffPost in 2018 that it was “quite strange.”
“It was weird because it was on television… I didn’t know what the hell I was doing but he was so sweet about it,” she told the outlet at the time. “He was a little bit older than me and he had a crush on Mandy Moore and he wanted me to hook [him] up really badly with her. We had such a brother-sister relationship. He would tease me so much and we still laugh about it even now.”
