Happy birthday, you two! Kensington Palace released the final portrait in a series that was taken to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, which was April 21. In the image taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the royal smiles brightly beside Prince Philip, her husband of 68 years, who is celebrating his 95th birthday on Friday, June 10.
The sixth portrait in the series was taken at Windsor Castle just after Easter. The final snapshot follows the queen’s official portrait with her two youngest grandchildren and five great-grandchildren — including Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton’s children, Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 13 months. It comes ahead of a series of special events for the couple.
The queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to attend a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, followed by a lunch for the Governors General of all Commonwealth Realms at Buckingham Palace. Her majesty’s official birthday will also be honored on Saturday, June 11, at the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony. On Sunday, June 12, the Patron’s Lunch will occur, a 10,000-person event that celebrates the queen’s patronage of more than 600 organizations.
The royal family previously celebrated the queen’s birthday in May with a star-studded two-hour event that was screened live on U.K. television.
