Real Housewives of Orange County’s Jeana Keough is sharing an update amid her ongoing tongue cancer battle, revealing she has suffered a concerning health setback.
“It’s tough to field all the questions individually – because so many folks love and care about Mama Jeans, so updating friends and family here 🤍,” Jeana’s daughter, Kara, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, July 21, alongside a photo featuring the reality TV alum, 70, laying in a hospital bed.
“Jeana was scheduled to get the G-tube this morning so she can get some nutrition,” Kara, 37, continued in the post. “She hasn’t been able to eat a meal for 2 weeks, so she’s extremely depleted. We uncovered a DVT clot in her leg, and now an infection, too. The feeding tube can’t be put directly into her stomach until there’s clarity on the infection.”
Kara also shared that her mom has “temporarily paused” chemo and radiation treatments so that she and her health team can “figure this out.”
“You better believe Jeana is insisting she only had a ‘fake fever’ and that she’s fine to continue with the surgery,” she quipped of the situation. “Prayer needs: that this infection clears quickly, that she can get the G-tube surgery imminently so that hangry Jeana doesn’t murder someone, and that we can quickly resume treatment so that this torment can be put in the rear view mirror.” Jeana’s fans were quick to send the Real Housewives alum their well wishes in the comments section.
“Praying for you both, Kara!” one wrote, while another added, “Ugh I’m so sorry- this is so unfair. I really hope she feels better soon and can get some nutrition!!😢🙏.” A third commented, “F**** cancer! You got this, Jeana! 🙌❤️.”
Kara first revealed that Jeana was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month. Later, in an exclusive interview with Us, she and her brother, Shane Keough, exclusively opened up to Us about how their mother is coping amid her health battle. (Jeana shares Kara and Shane, in addition to Colton, 34, with ex-husband Matt Keough.
“She’s strong through this. She’s got a good support network down there,” Shane told Us when marking 20 years of RHOC. “Colton, our younger brother, is there [in Orange County, California], so she’s on the right path. But you know, it’s tough for everybody, and we’re just trying to make sure she stays on her program so she’s strong when this is done.”
Kara added of their mother’s prognosis in the same exclusive interview, “We don’t know. We won’t know anything. I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life. We’re choosing to stay in that mindset.”
