Richard Bull has died at the age of 89. The actor — best-known for his work on Little House on the Prairie as Mr. Oleson — died in Calabasas, Calif., on Monday, Feb. 3.

"This man will be missed," his former costar, Melissa Gilbert, tweeted. "Goodbye Richard working with you was such a joy but nearly as joyful as being your friend."

Bull portrayed shopkeeper Nels Oleson — the henpecked husband to Mrs. Harriet Oleson and dad to spoiled Nellie — on the TV classic from 1974-1983. His other small-screen credits include Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea from 1964-1968 and Highway to Heaven (starring and produced by Little Houses' Michael Landon) from 1985-1988.

The Illinois native is survived by his wife, actress Barbara Collentine. The pair starred together in the 2000 film A Day in a Life, a story about five seniors turning an ordinary day into something a bit more special.
