A fresh start for 2014. Ricky Martin and his partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella have split, Us Weekly can confirm.
"Ricky and Carlos have mutually agreed to end their relationship but continue to be united by friendship and their shared experiences," a spokesperson for Martin said in a statement to Us.
The Latin singer recently showed up solo for his performance at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun on New Year's Eve, an insider tells Us.
Martin, 42, and the stock broker welcomed twin boys via a surrogate mother in August 2008. "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children," Martin's rep told Us at the time.
Martin publicly came out as a gay man in May 2010 on his personal website. "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," he wrote. "I am very blessed to be who I am."
