Sam Asghari Reacts After Ex Britney Spears Enters Rehab, Reveals If They’ve Spoken

Sam Asghari has addressed ex-wife Britney Spears’ recent decision to enter a rehab facility following her recent DUI.

“I think it’s great, [and] I think anything that has anything to do with healing [are] great things,” Asghari, 32, told TMZ photographers on Thursday, April 23. “As long as the person is in charge of that, it’s all great.”

Asghari was married to Spears, 44, from 2022 to 2024. He noted on Thursday that they have not had any communication since she entered rehab.

Us Weekly confirmed on April 12 that Spears voluntarily checked into treatment one month after she was arrested while driving in Los Angeles. She was booked for driving under the influence on March 4 and released within hours.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a rep for Spears told Us in a statement at the time. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

The spokesperson added, “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

According to the rep, Spears also planned to spend “more time” with her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, following her arrest. (Spears shares her children with ex-husband Kevin Federline.)

A source later told Us that Preston and Jayden encouraged the “Circus” singer to seek treatment.

“Britney went to rehab after several conversations with both of her sons,” the insider exclusively told Us earlier this month. “They expressed concern about her recent behavior and urged her to seek professional help, which has been long overdue, to get her back on track.”

The source added, “All they’ve ever wanted for their mom is health and happiness, even during the years they were estranged. They hope she’ll take it seriously.”

Spears reconciled with her sons last year following their estrangement.

“The boys are maturing and they want their mom in their lives, and Britney is really happy about that,” a second source told Us in September 2025. “She’s so grateful to have them in her life. She feels whole again.”

Asghari, for his part, told Us last month that he’s “rooting for” his ex after her arrest, calling Spears “one of the strongest women I’ve known in my life.”
