Well, you’ve gotta pass the time somehow! Sandra Bullock and George Clooney made the most of their downtime on the set of new film Gravity, learning the lyrics to the Sugarhill Gang classic “Rapper’s Delight,” the actress revealed on LIVE with Kelly and Michael on Thursday, Oct. 3.
The longtime friends would compete to see who could remember the most of the wordy lyrics, she added.
“I’ve got to give it to him,” the 49-year-old actress told the morning show hosts. “There’s a couple words — the bridges — that I chose not to learn. I’ll give it to George. George has about 98 percent of that song down, in the eight minute version.”
Bullock and Clooney, 52, have been friends for more than 20 years, and the pair are more than just “similar,” according to Bullock.
“We were pretty much separated at birth,” she said of her dapper costar.
In the film, the pair play two astronauts in space who find themselves floating above earth after an accidental explosion completely cuts off their communication to Houston and causes various other major mishaps — all while the duo are suspended thousands of miles above ground.
“It’s really about this emotional ride that you are allowed to step on,” Bullock said on the show. “And whatever’s happened in your life, you experience that and think about, ‘What would I do?’ And hopefully by the time you get out of the theater, you go, ‘I’m going to change my life. I’m going to change and do the things I always said, ‘Maybe one day.’ Don’t ‘maybe one day’ it. Life is short, things happen. Do it now.”
