Scott Porter is loving married life — even if he hasn't been able to spend much time with his new wife, Kelsey Mayfield. At The To Do List premiere Westwood, Calif., on Tuesday, July 23, the 34-year-old actor revealed how he stays connected with casting producer Mayfield when their careers force them to be apart.
"We have these huge patches of not being able to be together, but newlywed life is pretty awesome," said the star, who walked the red carpet solo. Mayfield has been scouting new chefs for Anthony Bourdain's The Taste, while Porter has been filming the third season of The CW's Hart of Dixie.
"We've been doing this for six years," explained Porter, who met his wife while shooting Friday Night Lights in Texas in 2008. (The couple returned to the Lone Star State for their Apr. 20 wedding.)
"We do what we call TV dates where we both get on iChat," the actor told Us Weekly. "I've got a Slingbox, which allows me to control my cable box at home from anywhere in the world on my laptop through an internet connection. I'll put on a show that we love to watch together. During the commercial breaks, we'll un-mute each other and talk about what just happened. And we'll do it over iChat so that we can see each other, and that kind of feels like a date night a little bit."

The newlyweds are currently watching the new season of FOX's So You Think You Can Dance. "I do have a couple of favorites," Porter admitted. "The girls are incredible this year, but on the guy side of things, it's wide open. I love Aaron — the really big tap dancer. I think he's incredible."
