Oops! While filling in for Kelly Ripa on the Monday, April 25, episode of Live With Kelly & Michael, Shay Mitchell suffered a wardrobe malfunction on air.
As the talk show’s studio audience witnessed, the strap on the Pretty Little Liars star’s cream-colored jumpsuit unraveled during her lively chat with regular cohost (and soon-to-be Good Morning America anchor) Michael Strahan.
During a commercial break, wardrobe assistants quickly came to sew up the actress’ ensemble.
“A little #commercialbreak sewing after a wardrobe malfunction,” the official Live With Kelly & Michael Instagram page captioned a video showing Mitchell, 29, smiling through what could have been a very embarrassing moment. “No biggie 😂.”
The Canadian-born beauty posted her own photo of the incident and wrote, “AS IF I WASN’T NERVOUS ENOUGH… casual wardrobe malfunction while co-hosting @kellyandmichael…Thank you @michaelstrahan , I had THE BEST time!”
As Us Weekly previously reported, Ripa, 45, hasn’t appeared on Live since it was announced on April 19 that Strahan, 44, is leaving the program for a full-time gig at GMA starting in September. On Monday, April 25, the NFL star turned TV personality announced that his cohost will be returning to daytime talk show on Tuesday.
“[Ripa] had a scheduled day off to celebrate her 20th anniversary,” he said alongside Mitchell. “She’s going to be back tomorrow, which we are all excited about.” (Ripa wrote in an email to the Live staff on Friday night that she would be back on Tuesday.)
Ripa will be returning to work following a trip with husband Mark Consuelos, which was taken in honor of their two-decade-long marriage. Since Ripa escaped New York City, she and Strahan have not communicated at all.
“Michael still hasn’t even heard a peep from her,” an insider told Us on Friday. “It wasn’t his place to tell Kelly [about GMA],” the source added. “The head of the network is supposed to tell the staff these things.”
