Stassi Schroeder got candid about the impact her new show, House of Stassi, has had on her marriage with Beau Clark.

“It’s both hard and rewarding,” Stassi, 38, said of her relationship with Beau, 46, during a Thursday, July 30, episode of the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast. “It puts a strain on it and it rewards it at the same time. Reality TV holds a mirror up to everything in your life. Yourself, your relationships if there are cracks, and normally when Beau and I are going about our lives, we sweep things under the rug.”

Stassi went on to say that if either she or Beau are “annoyed at something,” they usually don’t bother addressing it as the busy parents they are.

“We let it go,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said. “When you’re filming a reality show, you don’t get to do that. You have to say what you’re feeling, verbalize it, talk through it, figure it out.”

Stassi compared documenting her life to going to therapy. “We had to be really honest about our marriage and our relationship and our needs. It was obviously hard to do, but because of that, we learned so much more about each other and were putting it all on the table, so there’s more honesty and transparency there,” she added. “It’s helpful.”

When asked whether fans will see another side of her on the Hulu series, Stassi replied, “I hope so! Because it’s five to six years later and I’m a mother now, which changes everything.”

She noted that while she feels “different” at this point in her life, she’s still the “same old” Stassi she’s always been. “I’m still the same basic b****,” she laughed. “It’s kind of like a mind f*** when you become a parent. I hope people see some growth.”

The Bravo alum also joked about how much her little ones, Hartford, 5, and Messer, 2, are loving having a show of their own. “She was really into it,” she said of Hartford. “Whenever the crew leaves the house she gets sad.”

As for Beau, Stassi joked that he “didn’t have a choice” when he married her.

The couple met in 2017 through mutual friends Kristen Doute and Katie Maloney. Two years into dating, Beau got down on one knee and popped the question. They tied the knot in September 2020 during an intimate backyard ceremony and later celebrated their marriage in May 2022 in Rome.

House of Stassi, which premiered this month, showcased some tense moments between the pair, with Beau even going so far as to compare them to roommates. In one emotional scene, Stassi admitted she could “make more of an effort” in their marriage.

“I want you to say things,” she told Beau. “I want you to say things the way that you tell me you don’t want things to build up.”

House of Stassi is available to stream on Hulu.
