Well, this is awkward!
Casey Affleck’s appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday, February 22, quickly headed south when Colbert thanked the actor, who was sporting casual clothes, for “dressing up.”
Affleck said Colbert made him feel like he was being “rude” for sporting very casual attire, which Colbert said reminded him of a “street corner Jesus.”
It only got worse from there. The tension was so thick at one point that Colbert joked that it would lead to a fist fight.
“We should end up fighting at the end of the show, like bare-knuckle boxing,” Colbert said before Affleck asked, “You want to fight me?”
“No, it feels like this is where this is going,” Colbert said. “I’m wearing glasses, so you couldn’t possibly throw a punch at me.”
The conversation then turned to Affleck’s movie Triple 9, which Colbert admitted to only seeing an hour of because he had to help his son with a science project. He also asked Affleck if he had any brothers or sisters apart from “the one that I know of.”
