Teen Mom alum Taylor Selfridge has left her once-shared residence with ex Cory Wharton following their breakup.
“Well, since it’s out there now: me and Cory split up, and I live in my own place now,” Taylor, 32, said in a since-expired Snapchat video shared Thursday, October 8. “He asked me not to say anything, like, two-and-a-half, three weeks ago ‘cause I moved out when he was in New York. Then, he goes and posts this morning.”
Cory, 35, announced earlier on Thursday that he was entering “a new chapter” as a single father but held no animosity toward Taylor as they focused on coparenting their kids. (Cory and Taylor share daughters Mila, 6, and Maya, 3. The Challenge vet is also the father of daughter Ryder, 9, from his previous relationship with Teen Mom alum Cheyenne Floyd.)
“Taylor and I have decided to go our separate ways, as hard as that is to say publicly, I think it’s important to be honest about where my life is at this moment,” he wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement of his nine-year relationship. “We shared a lot of years, memories, love, and most importantly, we have two beautiful daughters.”
He added, “I’m sorry, Taylor, that things didn’t work out the way we both hoped they would. I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down.”
Taylor was admittedly surprised to see Cory’s social media announcement. (Us reached out to Cory for further comment.)
“It seems like he couldn’t f***ing wait to go post ‘cause he sure as hell didn’t ask me anything,” the MTV personality alleged in her Snapchat video. “He wanted to come up with a statement for both of us, but he did not do this.”
Taylor further claimed that she initiated the split.
“I told him I was done because he lied about the Izzy [Fairthorne] s***,” she alleged of Cory’s The Challenge friendship, which he previously apologized for crossing boundaries despite the duo’s bond never turning physical. “We weren’t in a good place again. I was just like, ‘I’m good. Somebody’s gotta go because we’re not gonna keep doing the same cycle.’”
Taylor also acknowledged that now-exes’ daughters are “obviously” aware of their parents’ separation, which Cory claimed to be “very mutual.”
“It wasn’t an ugly breakup. If one party wants to make it look like it was this and that, that’s fine,” he said in a separate statement shared to his Instagram Stories on Thursday. “It wasn’t. It was a very mutual thing. ‘OK, it’s time to split. This isn’t working for us. We’ve struggled for two years on making this thing work.’ I want nothing but the best for Taylor. … It’s time to heal. It’s time to move on. There’s no reason to just let this thing linger around. It was time.”
