A great way to bounce back. Taylor Swift recently donated $5,000 to the funeral costs for Katie Beth Carter, an 18-year-old fan who died in an Alabama car crash over Labor Day weekend.
After the late teen’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her medical expenses and funeral arrangements, the pop star, 26, pitched in to help.
"No words could express how sorry I am for your loss," Swift wrote on the fundraising page. "I know that you will keep Katie's memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor."
Carter’s sister Kimi took a screenshot of the “Wildest Dreams” singer’s sweet sentiments and shared it on Thursday, September 8, via Instagram. “this…… I cannot believe this at all….. thank you so much, Taylor,” she captioned the photo. “me and my sister are smiling so hard…@taylorswift.”
The GoFundMe’s goal of $30,000 was met, partially because of Swift’s generosity. The Grammy winner’s good deed is just the latest charitable contribution she has made in recent months.
In August, she made a donation to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in godson Leo Thames’ name after the 13-month-old underwent heart surgery, according to a note posted on Twitter by mother Jaime King. She also recently donated a whopping $1 million toward Louisiana flood relief efforts.
Swift’s gracious actions could possibly be the best way to recover from her split from Tom Hiddleston. As Us Weekly exclusively reported on September 9, she called off her romance with the Thor actor, 35, after the pair had discussed marriage and kids.
“They just dived in and it backfired,” a source close to the superstar told Us. “They decided to take a break and it turned into a breakup.”
