The countdown to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s summer nuptials is underway, but there might be a change in the venue.
Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse isn’t sure that Swift and Kelce, both 36, are getting hitched in his New England state. “I don’t know about that,” Whitehouse, 70, told TMZ DC on Tuesday, June 2, when asked about rumors that the couple are planning to tie the knot later this month at the singer’s local estate.
“I think that she gave Rhode Island a pass,” Whitehouse claimed. “But I’d hope so, I’d love to have her in Rhode Island.”
Whitehouse’s comments come just weeks ahead of Swift and Kelce’s wedding, which is reportedly set to take place in Rhode Island on June 13. (The number 13 has always been lucky for Swift.)

“They’re both involved and making decisions together,” an insider exclusively told Us in April, noting that the pair have been “focused on actually enjoying the process rather than getting caught up in the pressure” as the big day approaches. “They’re keeping things light.”
Swift and Kelce, who got engaged in August 2025, will likely split their wedding festivities between the Grammy winner’s $18 million Rhode Island mansion and Ocean House, a five-star seaside resort nearby.
“The guest list grew, so the ceremony and private gatherings associated with the wedding [will be split between the venues],” a second insider said, noting in April that Swift may still have other places in mind.
The source teased, “Taylor always has a plan B and C for every scenario,” while the first insider told Us that Rhode Island is an ideal spot. “They feel confident hosting it there. The entire area will be very private and guarded.”
While Swift and Kelce have remained tight-lipped about their upcoming celebration, celebrities have been hinting at whether or not they’ve received a coveted invitation to the wedding.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle exclusively told Us in April that he is gearing up for the couple’s big day. “It’s a great time that I’m looking forward to,” he said, teasing that, unlike teammate Christian McCaffrey’s wedding in June 2024, he thinks Kelce will have “plenty” of beer to go around.
Kittle, 32, recalled McCaffrey, 29, and wife Olivia Culpo’s beer supply running low at their nuptials, claiming he “had to provide most of the beer that night.”
Looking forward to Kelce’s wedding, Kittle joked, “I think Travis will be pretty prepared.”
Suki Waterhouse, meanwhile, confirmed her attendance for Swift’s big day, telling Variety last month, “I’m gonna go to Taylor’s wedding.”
Waterhouse — who is a longtime friend of Swift and opened for her Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London — added that she may “get some inspiration” from the “Opalite” singer for her own nuptials with fiancé Robert Pattinson. (Waterhouse and Pattinson, 40, have been together since 2018 and share one child.)
