Teresa Giudice is surviving prison — so far. A source tells Us Weekly the Real Housewives of New Jersey star was been keeping her head up by staying “upbeat and positive” since first checking into the Danbury Connecticut Federal Correctional Institution early Monday, Jan. 5. And with the weekend near, she has her family’s visit to look forward to.
“Her immediate family can visit her this weekend,” Teresa’s lawyer James J. Leonard Jr. tells Us of her husband Joe Giudice and daughters Gia, 14, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 4.
"She’s gonna be just fine," Leonard added of how the star is doing in prison. “She was very strong going into this and that’s how I think she’ll cope with prison is carrying on with that strength."
The good news of her family’s upcoming visit comes after Teresa learned she won’t have to serve her entire 15-month sentence behind bars.
As previously reported by Us, the Bravo star will be released about two months (54 days to be exact) ahead of her 15-month sentence. "You do 85 percent of your term,” her attorney explained to Us. “So 85 percent for her is 12 and 3/4 months. Then, you are eligible on that date for halfway house or home confinement for the other 6 months or 10 percent of her sentence.” Which means, Teresa will get to spend next Christmas with her family.
As for how Joe, who will have to serve his 41-month sentence upon her release, is dealing with it all?
Another source tells Us that Joe is “holding strong as much as he can. He’s laying low right now…just spending time with his parents and in-laws, and of course, the girls.”
