Victoria Beckham is sharing insight into maintaining the so-called “Brand Beckham” with her husband, David Beckham, and their children.

“Do you know when myself and David first met, it was never the intention to start a brand?” Victoria, 52, said on the Tuesday, May 5, episode of Emma Grede’s “Aspire” podcast. “People talk about ‘Brand Beckham,’ and that has happened so organically.”

She continued, “When I first met David, I mean, he was a Brylcreem boy. He was playing for Manchester United. David was Adidas and Brylcreem and Pepsi, [and] I was in the Spice Girls, and that’s where I learned so much about how to build a brand, you know, and marketing.”

David, 51, and Victoria got married in 1999, going on to welcome sons Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, as well as daughter Harper, 14.

David and Victoria’s eldest son, Brooklyn, made waves in January when he claimed that his parents were “controlling” and he ceased contact.

“Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” Brooklyn alleged in his social media statement, claiming that he and wife Nicola Peltz tried to fit into the so-called brand standards. “We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family!’”

Brooklyn further claimed that Nicola, 31, once asked Victoria to share a social media post to help “save displaced dogs” during the Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025. He alleged that Victoria “refused” to help her daughter-in-law’s mission.

While Victoria never addressed Brooklyn’s accusations, she offered further insight into curating her online presence on Tuesday.

“We don’t have any deals together,” she told Grede, 43. “David does what David does. I do what I do … and that’s the way it’s always been.”

Victoria added, “Well, we have very different interests [and] very different things that we do. So, I think it was the outside world that really talked a lot about ‘Brand Beckham,’ and that’s never really how we saw it. We’re just doing what we do.”

In addition to their respective careers, Victoria and David prioritize their family life.

“We’ve always been very close. Communication is really key,” the fashion designer explained. ”You know, [at] 6 o’clock every night at our house, so long as neither of us are traveling, we always eat dinner together. We’re quite a traditional family. … We’re not on our phones, and we’re all just talking about what’s happened during the day. Being very close is really, really important to us, and ultimately we want the kids to be hard-working [and] kind.”
