Poor little guy! Sweepee Rambo was named the 2016 World’s Ugliest Dog at a Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds contest in Petaluma, California, on Friday, June 24.
The 17-year-old blind Chihuahua–Chinese crested mix previously competed in the competition three times before finally taking home the title on Friday, ABC News reported.
Sweepee Rambo’s owner, Jason Wurtz, told the news outlet that the 4-pound dog was a gift to his ex-wife. After the couple divorced, he kept the canine because his ex-wife thought it was ugly.
According to The New York Times, Wurtz, who lives in Encino, California, gushed about the female dog’s “baby-soft freckled skin and legendary blond Mohawk.” He also called Sweepee a “ride or die chick” who loves to ride with him on his Honda motorcycle.
Sweepee’s owner took home $1,500 and a 6-foot-tall trophy.
The annual contest, which honors so-called “homely hounds,” featured 16 canine contestants — including one who bore a striking resemblance to Donald Trump.
Himisaboo’s blond combover hairstyle drew comparisons to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s ‘do on Friday. According to KBOI 2News, the dog’s owner, Heather Wilson, describes him as a half-dachshund, half-“we think either Chinese crested or Mexican Hairless Xoloitzcuintli.”
“We figured, whether people loathe The Donald or love The Donald, a vote for Himisaboo is a vote for a dog that looks like Donald Trump,” Wilson quipped during an interview with the site.
