A Royally Good Cause
The party — held at the palace’s Orangery, steps away from the 36-year-old royals’ family residence — honored family members of Royal Air Force personnel serving in Cyprus.

Father Christmas on Deck
The event boasted a photo booth so guests could send images to their deployed relatives. The children at the party decorated stockings, crafted snow globes, and assembled Christmas party kits, and a lucky few got to prepare crackers and truffles alongside William. Plus, Father Christmas made a special appearance at the party.

“I Remember How It felt.”
Kate, who wore a black Brora cashmere top and a red Emilia Wickstead tartan skirt to the event, told guests she could relate to their feelings of longing. “As someone whose husband has served, I know how hard it feels when a loved one leaves home for the job they trained for,” she said, per the Daily Mirror. “When William served in the Falklands or with Search and Rescue, I remember how it felt.”

Kate’s Empathy
She added: “But I can’t imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service. The absence of people you love must be especially hard at this time of year.”

Christmas in Cyprus
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also fly to Cyprus on Wednesday, December 5, to meet military personnel, some of whom had relatives at the party.

More Festivities
Meanwhile, the couple’s children — Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 7 months — are getting ready for their holiday festivities. Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, recently revealed that George and Charlotte will have their own Christmas tree to decorate when they visit their grandparents’ home in Bucklebury, England.
